Mullica River Bridge Widening of Garden State Parkway
Port Republic, NJ
16 caissons, 8 ft diameter, original depth of 205’. After load test results, shaft length shortened 175’. Majority of work performed off of barges.
Installation process called for 8.5 ft diameter permanent casings 70 ft long driven in place using a vibratory hammer. Shaft excavation was performed under polymer slurry. 4,000 p.s.i. self consolidating concrete was tremie poured into each shaft after full-length reinforcing cage was placed.
